This course was developed by Angella Alvernaz, a student at George Mason University who is working on an M.Ed in Instructional Systems Design. This project was developed as a final project for the course Advanced Instructional Design (EDIT 730) under the supervision of Dr. Nada Dabbagh.

The requirement of this project was to develop a Constructivist Learning Environment (CLE). The students in the class were able to determine the topic and the type of CLE to develop. Angella Alvernaz decided to focus on Colony Collapse Disorder after hearing two colleagues having a spirited debate on the topic. The model that was chosen for this CLE was a Cognitive Flexibility Hypertext (CFH). Cognitive Flexibility Hypertext allows the learner to explore different perspectives on a topic in a non-linear manner and then formulate their own opinion on the topic after reviewing the information. It is a self-directed learning model that allows for opposing views to be presented and evaluated.
